Hyundai has launched the new Elantra in India at prices starting from Rs 12.99 lakh for the base petrol and Rs 14.99 lakh for the diesel.

The new Elantra is powered by a choice of two engines – a 2.0-litre petrol producing 152hp and 190Nm of torque, and a 1.6-litre diesel producing 128hp and 265Nm of torque. It also comes with two driving modes. The new car has a boot capacity of 458-litres and clearance of 170mm. The car delivers a fuel economy of 14.6kpl for the petrol and 22.5kpl for the diesel. It comes with 16-inch alloy wheels as standard on all variants.

As far as safety goes, the Elantra gets four airbags for all trims while the top spec SX (O) AT comes with six airbags. Also, four wheel disc brakes with ABS and EBD are standard on all trims. Prices for the new Elantra are introductory and will stay in effect till December 2016.
