Datsun has launched limited-run models, called Remix Edition, of its Go hatchback and Go+ MPV at Rs 4.21 lakh and Rs 4.99 lakh, respectively (both prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). Both models feature exterior and the interior cosmetic changes in a bid to push sales of the rather slow-selling cars. Bookings have started for the special edition Go and Go+, which are Rs 9,000 and Rs 6,000 more than their respecitve high-spec T variants.

On the outside, the Remix Edition models gets various new finishes, like a black and orange dual-tone combo and a monotone Storm White for the hatchback and white, black and orange and a dual-tone silver for the MPV. Besides the colours, the special-edition models also get a new rear spoiler, black wheel covers, a black grille, chrome-finished exhaust tips and chrome bezels on the bumper.

The interiors of the limited-run models feature a cabin in piano black and new seat covers. Equipment levels are the same as the T variant with remote keyless entry and Bluetooth compatibility for the audio system offered as standard. Features such as follow-me-home headlamps, an electric power steering, a manual AC, front power windows, auxiliary-in and USB ports, and central locking continue to be available.

Mechanically, both models are unchanged from their standard brethren and sport the same 68hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

The Go rivals the likes of the Maruti Alto K10 and Hyundai Eon, and higher-spec versions of the Renault Kwid and its sibling, the Datsun Redigo. The latter was recently launched with an automated manual version at Rs 3.81 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

For India, the Japanese carmaker is also looking to bring a crossover based on the Go+ MPV, the Cross, which was revealed in Indonesia at the beginning of 2018. There is no word on a launch date or pricing but the crossover is expected to  rival the likes of the Maruti CelerioX and Mahindra KUV100 NXT and compact SUVs like the  Maruti Vitara BrezzaTata’s Nexon and the refreshed Ford EcoSport.
