Porsche has revealed the Cayman GT4 Clubsport, a track-focussed version of its Cayman GT4..

Mechanically, the GT4 Clubsport is quite similar to the standard GT4. The engine is the same 380bhp 3.8-litre flat-six as in the standard GT4 though the manual gearbox from the road-going GT4 is replaced by Porsche’s dual-clutch PDK unit. The front and rear suspension of the GT4 Clubsport are borrowed from the 911 GT3 Cup race car. In the cabin, the passenger seat has been removed and a roll-cage has been installed. The driver seat on the standard car has been replaced by a bucket seat with a six-point safety harnesses.

Stopping power is provided by 380mm steel discs on all four ends with six-piston callipers up front and four-piston callipers at the back. The car comes equipped with adjustable ABS offering 12 stages to choose from. The ESP has been tweaked to work with slick tyres.

Porsche says it plans to homologate the car for use in a number of sportscar racing championships around the world, including the Pirelli World Challenge, the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge and club races run by the Porsche Club of America.

The GT4 Clubsport name could also possibly be a hint at a more hardcore road-going and racing model badged the Cayman GT4 RS.
