Renault is gearing up on its next big launch for the Indian market with the Captur crossover that is slated to hit Indian showrooms this festive season. The car was first unveiled in Moscow last year and is currently on sale in Russia and a few South American markets.

India will be the first market where Renault will sell the Captur in right-hand-drive layout. While it is badged as the ‘Captur’ in India, the crossover is sold as the ‘Kaptur’ in Russia. The Captur for India, as reported earlier, will be based on the Duster’s B0 platform, which will also underpin the upcoming India-spec Nissan Kicks crossover. It will be positioned above the Duster in its India line-up.

The crossover will be powered by the 1.5-litre K9k diesel engine which is expected to get a slight bump in power. Renault will also sell the Captur with the 1.5-litre petrol engine that also powers the Duster. The carmaker won’t offer an automatic gearbox on either of these engines at launch. However, there are talks of 4WD and automatic gearbox options to be added to the line-up later.

The India-spec Captur will come with full-LED headlamps flanked by LED daytime running lights. The crossover’s interior will feature a dual-tone theme, while, for the exterior, customers will be able to customise their vehicle with a contrast roof option. It will come with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with media navigation and Bluetooth connectivity.

As far as pricing goes, the Captur will be directly aimed at the Creta in the Indian market.
