Mercedes revealed the C-class Cabriolet earlier this year at the Geneva motor show 2016. The Cabriolet borrows its styling and much of its dimensions from the C-class Coupe, though it sits taller than its sibling. A rival to the Audi A3 Cabriolet and the BMW 4-series convertible, the C-class Cabriolet comes equipped with a fabric roof that can be opened and closed at speeds of up to 50kph and folds into the boot when not in use.

Inside the cabin, the design is almost akin to the C-class Coupe though the Cabriolet uses heat-reflecting leather and gets the addition of a button on the centre console to control the roof mechanism. The seats come equipped with the company’s Airscarf neck-level heating while Mercedes has also added its Aircap system to stop draft from creeping inside the cabin.

For India, Mercedes will bring in the C-class Cabriolet with just one engine option, a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine. This model will be called C 300. This is the same 245hp engine that does duty in the GLC 300 SUV. The car comes equipped with a nine-speed automatic gearbox as standard with the option of Dynamic Select allowing the driver to choose from five transmission modes.

Mercedes will launch the C 300 cabriolet in India before the end of this year. We had a chance to get behind the wheel of the C-class Cabriolet, here’s our review.

Merc’s COMAND interface looks good but is awkward to operate.

Metallic switchgear in the GLC just feels so classy.

As with all new Mercs, the space-saver spare eats into boot space.

Disco Sport’s interior looks and feels functional and durable, in typical Land Rover fashion.

7-seat Disco’s spare is under the car; tricky to reach.

Disco’s third row a segment-unique offering, but space is tight.

Large single-piece sunroof gives a great view, but doesn’t open.
