Maruti has launched its new premium hatchback, the Baleno, in India at prices starting from Rs 4.99 lakh for the base petrol and Rs 6.16 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base diesel model. This is the second model to be retailed from the manufacturer's premium Nexa dealerships. The premium hatchback is available in four trim levels with two choices of engines.

Like the Maruti S-Cross premium crossover, the Maruti Baleno variants also follow the same nomenclature system  – the base Sigma trim,  two mid-level trims named Delta and Zeta and the top-spec Alpha.

Offered in seven paint shades, the premium hatchback is powered by a 1.2-litre 83.1bhp petrol or a 1.3-litre 73.9bhp diesel engines. The diesel engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox as standard while the petrol engine is offered with a choice of a five-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.
