Afeela, the car brand set up by Sony and Honda, has unveiled an SUV prototype at CES 2026. Called the Afeela SUV, it is based on the Vision-S 02 concept revealed three years ago and is planned for a launch in 2028.
- Afeela SUV sports a minimal look with a fastback roofline
- It could get a 91kWh battery pack with a 482km claimed range
The Afeela brand is a result of a partnership between Honda and Sony, wherein Honda takes care of the engineering and manufacturing of the models while Sony handles the technology and user experience.
Afeela SUV exterior details
Gets a modest look overall and a design inspired by the Afeela 1 sedan.

The Afeela SUV prototype’s design is a departure from the Vision-S 02 concept. The SUV is essentially a raised version of the Afeela 1 sedan, with a minimalist look overall. At the front, it gets a connected wraparound headlight. There’s also a ‘media’ light bar, which interacts with people and other vehicles, and the bumper has a closed-off design with smooth surfaces.

The sides have a smooth finish with character lines on the lower part of the doors, and the aero-optimised alloy wheels’ design is borrowed from the Afeela 1 sedan. At the back, there’s a wraparound connected LED tail-light and sculpted lines lower down, creating a split bumper effect. There’s a raked, fastback-style roofline as well.
The SUV appears to have a footprint similar to its sedan counterpart; it’s possibly under 5 metres long with a wheelbase measuring slightly over 3 metres, bringing it in line with rivals like the BMW iX and Volvo EX90.
Afeela SUV interior details
Could borrow the Afeela 1 sedan’s cabin layout

While the SUV’s interior was not revealed, an image of the prototype shows an interior layout similar to that of the Afeela 1. For reference, the sedan has an end-to-end screen setup on the dashboard, split between a digital driver’s display and a large touchscreen infotainment system for the driver and front passenger, along with screens relaying feed from the camera-based outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs). There’s a yoke steering as well.
The SUV will likely be on par with its sedan counterpart in terms of features and get a similar safety suite. Some likely feature inclusions are a Sony-powered audio system, Level 2+ ADAS capabilities, a personalised AI agent and 5G connectivity.
Afeela SUV powertrain details
Expect it to be powered by a 91kWh battery pack.
Afeela has not shared details about the SUV’s powertrain, but it could likely share the sedan counterpart’s 91kWh battery pack with a dual-motor setup, which produces 475hp and has a claimed range of up to 482km. The battery supports DC fast charging speeds of up to 150kW.
Only US launch planned as of now.
Afeela is planning a 2028 launch for its SUV. Meanwhile, the Afeela 1 sedan is set to enter production this year, with a rollout likely next year in Japan and certain states of the US. Currently, there are no plans for the Afeela brand to come to the Indian market yet.
