The 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will launch on October 5, the carmaker confirmed on Tuesday. The luxury sedan's launch here will take place slightly over six months after its global reveal in March. The updated Maybach S-Class gets similar visual and technology upgrades as the new S-Class, along with more personalisation options and powertrain enhancements.
2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class exterior highlights
The Maybach S-Class gets a some model-specific touches. Like the standard S-Class, the front grille is 20 percent larger and gets LED illumination, with an illuminated Mercedes star on the bonnet above it. However, the grille gets the Maybach signature vertical slats, along with an illuminated 'Maybach' wordmark above them.
The headlights are new and larger, with three-pointed star DRLs.Tiny Maybach logos also form the mesh pattern for the lower air dams in the bumpers, similar to the Maybach SL. Like before, the Maybach is 180mm longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class. It now gets a choice of new forged alloy wheels in 20- and 21-inch sizes, with multi-spoke designs. They also feature a counterweighted Mercedes logo that stays upright as the wheels turn. The Maybach logo on the D-pillar is illuminated, while the tail-lamps get the same three-pointed-star LED signature as the standard S-Class.
The carmaker claims each Maybach S-Class sedan now gets some options from its Manufaktur personalisation range. This now includes more exterior colours and two-tone paint combinations.
2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class interior and features
The Maybach sedan gets S-Class-like Superscreen setup, which includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.4-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch passenger display. A new E&E architecture with four 'supercomputers' runs the entire car, from the screens to the safety features to the driving dynamics.
Like on the outside, there are more personalisation options inside too. Buyers can now choose a greater degree of extended leather upholstery, including lower down in the cabin around the footwell area. There are also new upholstery colours and, for the first time on a Maybach, a leather-free vegan upholstery option with its own unique design.
The rear seats recline up to 43 degrees, compared to 38 degrees in the standard S-Class, and are heated, ventilated and massaging. Two individual smartphone-style remotes now replace the earlier tablet controller and can be used to operate the car’s functions.
2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class powertrains
In international markets, the new Maybach S-Class is offered with petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The S 580 gets an upgraded 4.0-litre V8 with a flat-plane crank, producing 537hp and 750Nm. Some markets also get the S 580e PHEV, which pairs a 3.0-litre inline-six with a 163hp electric motor and a 22kWh battery. The total system output is 585hp and 750Nm, while the car can travel up to 98km on electric power alone. Which version will come to India is not clear yet.
Depending on the market, the top-spec S 680 gets either a V12 or a more powerful version of the V8. If launched in India, we are likely to get the 612hp, 850Nm version of the S 580’s 4.0-litre V8.
The currently on-sale Mercedes-Maybach S 580 is priced at Rs 2.87 crore, ex-showroom, before options. The new Maybach S-Class is expected to be priced higher to account for the upgrades.
