2022 Range Rover, Range Rover Sport get 5-star Euro NCAP rating

    India-bound Nissan X-Trail also received a 5-star rating, and while the model tested was LHD, the rating applies to the RHD version as well.

    Land Rover’s new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have scored an impressive 5-star rating in the latest round of Euro NCAP safety tests. Of the 16 cars tested, only one did not receive a 5-star rating. 

    1. 15 out of 16 cars tested got a 5-star rating
    2. Tesla Model S, Honda Civic, Isuzu D-Max were among tested cars

    2022 Range Rover Euro NCAP test results

    The Range Rover scored 84 percent in adult occupant tests, getting 32.1 out of 38 points, and 87 percent for child occupants tests, with a score of 43 out of 49 points. In safety systems tests, it scored 82 percent, getting 13.2 out of 16 points. However, the 2022 Range Rover scored 72 percent in the vulnerable road users tests, getting 39.1 points out of 54.

    Euro NCAP also tested the Range Rover Sport, and the results were similar to the new Range Rover's. It scored 85 percent in adult occupant tests, getting 32.4 points out of 38. In child occupant tests, it scored 85 percent by getting 42 out of 49 points, while safety systems tests saw it score 82 percent after getting 13.2 points out of 16. The new Range Rover Sport scored a slightly lower 69 percent in vulnerable road users tests, getting 37.5 points out of 54. 

    Nissan X-Trail Euro NCAP test results

    The India-bound, fourth-generation Nissan X-Trail was also included in the recent round of tests. It scored 91 percent in adult occupant tests, getting 34.7 out of 38 points, and 90 percent in child occupant tests, with 44.3 points out of 49. In the safety systems tests, it scored an impressive 95 percent, getting 15.2 points out of 16, while in the vulnerable road users tests, it only received 38.2 points out of 54, scoring 70 percent. Although the model tested was a left-hand drive unit, the rating applies to the right-hand drive version too. 

    Other cars tested by Euro NCAP in this round

    The safety tests were also conducted on 13 other vehicles, including the Tesla Model S, new Honda Civic, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Nio ET7 EV, Smart #1 EV, WEY Coffee 02, Nissan Ariya, DS 9, Renault Austral, Toyota Corolla Cross, Toyota bZ4X, Subaru Solterra and Isuzu D-Max Crew Cab. All models received a 5-star safety rating, except for the DS 9; it scored 79 percent in adult occupant tests, 86 percent in child occupant tests, 67 percent in vulnerable road users tests and 67 percent in safety systems tests.
