Details of the refreshed Tata Nexon are slowly trickling online, in the run up to the model’s debut in the months to come. An image of the Nexon facelift’s front end has surfaced on the internet, providing new information on the compact SUV’s design.
While the car in the image wears a significant amount of camouflage, what is quite apparent is that the Nexon facelift gets a new bonnet and front bumper design. Reprofiled fog lamp clusters, a slimmer grille that’s more like the Harrier’s and new headlight units with DRLs are some of the visible elements. Aesthetics aside, the revisions will be required to comply with latest pedestrian protection norms that come into effect October 2020.
While the Nexon facelift’s silhouette is expected to be more or less identical to that of the current model on sale, new alloy wheel designs and slightly tweaked rear styling are almost a certainty. The same design elements are also expected to feature on the all-electric version of the Nexon, which has now been confirmed as part of Tata’s future EV line-up.
It is yet to be confirmed but the cabin of the Tata Nexon facelift may get a Bosch-sourced all-digital instrument cluster and other updates to the upholstery and design. Expect Tata to also offer a bit more in terms of equipment and convenience features in order to match up to its expanding and well-kitted competition, which includes the likes of the Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300.
Last but not least, the new Nexon will also get BS6-compliant versions of the current 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engines, and the same 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT gearbox options.
In terms of price, the upgraded BS6 engines, various sheet metal changes and more kit will see the new Nexon cost a decent premium (about Rs 50,000) compared to the outgoing model. Whether these changes will help Tata dealers retail more units of the Nexon is still a question mark.
