The much-awaited Renault Triber Turbo has finally been launched, with prices starting at Rs 7.84 lakh and going up to Rs 8.99 lakh (both ex-showroom). We first reported in 2019 that Renault was working on a more powerful turbo-petrol version of the MPV, but its launch has clearly been delayed. Variant-for-variant, the Triber Turbo costs Rs 94,000 to Rs 1.11 lakh more than the naturally aspirated version.

Renault Triber Turbo powertrain details
The Triber Turbo gets the same 'HR10' 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine that does duty in the Kiger and Duster 1.0 SUVs. But due to a new engine management system, it puts out a higher 180Nm of torque than both those SUVs. Peak power output, however, is an identical 100hp, and it is claimed to do the 0-100kph sprint in 10.8 seconds. As of now, the Triber Turbo is available with a 5-speed manual, though a CVT automatic is set to arrive soon.
Renault Triber Turbo exterior design highlights
There are no design changes that separate the Triber Turbo from its naturally aspirated petrol counterpart. Up front is a gloss-black grille with the carmaker’s new logo, and LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights (DRLs). Lower down, the bumper gets a large air dam with a silver surround and fog lamps at the outer edges.
In profile, there are 15-inch wheels with dual-tone covers designed to look like alloys, and functional roof rails. The door handles and outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) are finished in gloss black.
At the rear, clear-lens LED tail-lamps are connected by gloss-black trim. There is a new ‘TURBO’ badge on the tailgate, making it stand apart from the petrol version.
Renault Triber Turbo interior and features
The list of features remains unchanged in the seven-seat MPV. It gets an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Wireless phone charger, automatic climate control with separate blower control for the rear, a cooled centre storage box, automatic headlights and wipers, a rear washer/wiper, cruise control and push-button start/stop are also on offer, among others. Boot space with the third row folded is 625 litres, as per Renault.
Safety features include six airbags, Isofix mounts, ABS, EBD, ESP, traction control, hill-start assist, a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and more. Renault has also retuned the ABS, ESC and traction control specifically for the Turbo version. The Triber previously scored four stars in Global NCAP crash tests.
The Renault Triber is part of the niche compact MPV segment, which also includes the Nissan Gravite. It remains to be seen if the Japanese carmaker offers a turbo-petrol engine option with the Gravite.
