Honda has confirmed that the fourth-generation Jazz will see a world premier at the 2019 Tokyo Motor show, next month. The event starts on October 23, 2019. The Honda Jazz is sold as the “Honda Fit” in Japan and a few other markets like North America.
The company has been road-testing the new Jazz for more than a year now. The new hatchback will be a full model change – which means it will get new styling inside out, tweaked underpinnings and a new powertrain as well. Honda has also announced that the new Jazz (Fit) will come with a new and compact version of its twin-motor hybrid setup mated to either a 1.2-litre or a 1.5-litre petrol engine. Additionally, the Jazz will also be available with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol in some markets.
As seen in previously leaked images, the new Jazz will get a more rounded look with larger headlamps that look a bit similar to the second-generation model. It will get a more squared front bumper with prominent black inserts and a honeycomb mesh design for the fog-lamp inserts and air dam. The upcoming Jazz will get a more rounded glasshouse and a small quarter glass just aft the rear door. At the back, the model will get horizontally positioned wraparound tail-lamps with LED elements.
The next-gen Jazz is expected to be 3,990mm in length, which means that it will qualify for the excise benefits in India, just like the current model. Honda will, however, increase the car’s width in order to facilitate more room in the cabin and boot. Additionally, Honda is also expected to offer a 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol for the new hatchback some markets like India.
Additionally, the new Honda Jazz will share its underpinnings with the upcoming next-generation Honda City sedan, which will see a world premiere in November and is expected to come to India sometime in second half of 2020.
