We had reported earlier that the current-gen Grand i10 will not be discontinued but instead be sold alongside the upcoming Grand i10 Nios. Now, we can confirm that Hyundai will continue selling the Grand i10 in three variants, but with a solitary petrol engine on offer.

The current-generation Grand i10 will be positioned between the Santro and the Nios in Hyundai’s line-up, and will be sold in the mid-spec Magna, Sportz and Sportz Dual Tone trim levels. Furthermore, Hyundai will discontinue the diesel-powered versions of the hatchback, and will only sell it with the 83hp, 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine, which will also see a BS6 upgrade in the near future; the sole gearbox on offer on the Grand i10 petrol will be a 5-speed manual. Customers looking to buy an automatic will have to opt for the Grand i10 Nios, which will be sold with an AMT gearbox for both petrol and diesel engine options.

In terms of equipment, the Grand i10 Sportz comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, LED DRLs, electrically adjustable and retractable ORVMs, rear AC vents, rear parking sensors and camera, dual airbags, and ABS with EBD.

Currently, the Grand i10 Magna costs Rs 5.83 lakh while the Sportz variant retails for Rs 6.17 lakh. For the Sportz Dual Tone, which comes with a dual tone paint scheme, buyers will have to shell out an extra Rs 23,000, with the variant costing Rs 6.40 lakh. Hyundai is expected to slightly lower the Grand i10’s prices by around Rs 20,000 in order to accommodate the Nios.

The current-gen Grand i10 will not get any cosmetic or structural changes. However, it will see a styling change later, in order to comply with the pedestrian safety norms that come into effect later next year.

Meanwhile, Hyundai is gearing up for the launch of the all-new Grand i10 Nios on August 20. The Nios is set to become the fourth hatchback in Hyundai’s portfolio, after the Santro, the Grand i10 and the Elite i20. Key rivals to the Nios include the Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Ford Figo and the Volkswagen Polo.

Bookings for the Grand i10 Nios have been opened for an amount of Rs 11,000. Buyers can book the car at Hyundai dealerships and on the company’s website, with deliveries expected to begin by the end of the month.
