The second-gen BMW X3 currently on sale in India.

BMW has revised the X3 range in India and now offers a top-spec M Sport trim (priced at Rs 54 lakh) in place of the previously available xLine variant. A 2.0-litre 28i xLine petrol model was also previously on offer and has now been discontinued, leaving only the 190hp, 2.0-litre 20d diesel engine.

The M Sport trim on the X3 comes with exterior and interior changes over the base Expedition variant such as M badging in various places inside and out, the M aerodynamics package, an M Sport leather-wrapped steering and sport seats for the driver and front passenger. The M Sport also comes with larger 18-inch alloy wheels compared to the Expedition’s 17 inchers.

In terms of kit, the M Sport gets a larger 8.8-inch iDrive touchscreen system (the Expedition gets a 6.5-inch one) with a 205W nine-speaker set-up and a storage compartment pack comprising of two 12V power sockets, storage nets, a rear armrest with two cupholders, seat-back trays with separators and more.

The top-spec trim is also available in colours such as red, black and grey in addition to the white finish which is offered on both trims. The base Expedition gets an exclusive blue colour finish as well.

Prices for the new X3 range start at Rs 49.10 lakh for the base trim and go up to Rs 54 lakh for the top-spec variant (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The move to re-jig the Mercedes GLC and Audi Q5 rival’s range is in line with the German manufacturer’s plans to slowly phase out the second-gen model, which is currently on sale, for the new third-gen model. The third-gen X3 will be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018, with an India launch expected in May this year.
