The Honda CB500 is an upcoming fully faired supersport motorcycle based on the same platform as the CB350 range, with some changes to suit its larger engine. It is likely to use a 501cc, air- and oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 28 hp and 43.3Nm of torque.

 

The CB500 will be available in three variants. The base variant will get simple colour options and alloy wheels, while the mid-spec variant will feature metallic solid paint and cross-spoke wheels that allow the use of tubeless tyres. The top variant will get exclusive colours and graphics along with laced-spoke wheels. The launch is likely around October-November, with the bike positioned between the Harley-Davidson X440 and Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 in Honda's lineup.

Honda CB500 FAQs

The Honda CB500 will compete with the Harley-Davidson X440 range, which is priced between Rs 2.35 lakh and Rs 2.59 lakh. It will also sit below Royal Enfield's 650cc motorcycles, which start at Rs 3.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai).

The Honda CB500 is expected to attract 40 percent GST as it has an engine above 350cc, compared with 18 percent for motorcycles below 350cc. This higher tax rate can increase its overall price.
