Tell us about your experience
The Xtreme 160R uses a 163.2cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder, two-valve engine that produces 14.8 hp at 8,500rpm and 14Nm at 6,500rpm. It is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The standard Xtreme 160R has single-channel ABS, with disc braking equipment listed at the front and variant-dependent rear braking hardware. Buyers should confirm the precise brake setup of the selected variant.
The Xtreme 160R has a 790mm seat height and a kerb weight of 139.5kg. Its 167mm ground clearance is relevant when negotiating speed breakers and uneven urban roads. The tubular underbone diamond-type frame is paired with a telescopic front fork and a seven-step adjustable rear monoshock. These specifications define its everyday riding setup, although suspension comfort also depends on road conditions and adjustment.
The 17-inch alloy wheels use tubeless tyres, with a 100/80-section front tyre and a 130/70-section rear tyre. The motorcycle also gets LED lighting, an inverted LCD console, a USB charger and a 12-litre fuel tank. These features gives Xtreme 160R a more equipment-rich specification than a basic commuter, while its two-valve engine keeps the mechanical package relatively straightforward.
Questions you may find useful
How does the Triumph T4 2026 old-stock model (400cc engine) compare to the Gixxer 250SF? I am planning to upgrade from Xtreme 160R. My total usage in the metro in-city.
The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is due to undergo a generation change later this year, and we'd advise you not to buy the current model, as that will be phased out soon, and the next-gen model will likely bring in many meaningful updates to this aged platform.Coming to the Triumph Speed T4 (400cc version), this is an accomplished city bike, and if you can find one, we'd recommend you jump on that because now all single-cylinder Triumphs in India are 350cc. Coming from the XTreme 160R, this will be a comprehensive upgrade, although lower fuel economy will be one trade-off.
I currently ride a Bajaj Discover 125 and am now looking to upgrade to a 150cc motorcycle that is cost-effective and offers good fuel efficiency. My daily commute is around 35-40km. Please advise.
In the 150-160cc commuter space, the most affordable option currently is the Hero Xtreme 160R, priced at Rs 1.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bikes like the base Yamaha FZ, Honda Unicorn and lower variants of the Bajaj Pulsar N160 and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V are available for roughly Rs 10,000-12,000 more. All of these bikes are quite fuel-efficient and can return upwards of 45-50kpl, if ridden sensibly. We'd recommend a test ride of these bikes to see which one suits you best.
