Yamaha has taken the wraps off its YZF-R3 with a catchy video. The manufacturer says the bike will debut internationally by 2015. You can view the motorcycle on the company website currently. The YZF-R3 looks purpose built and attractive.
The Yamaha YZF-R3's styling is derived from its elder siblings from the YZF-R family, evident in the dual headlamps and fairing-mounted mirrors. The instrument cluster comprises analogue and digital information for the rider. The new YZF-R3 gets a 14 litre fuel tank, split seats and a stubby exhaust canister.
The YZF-R3 is powered by a 320cc, liquid-cooled, in-line, four-stroke, two-cylinder powerhouse that is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The eight-valve DOHC motor produces a maximum power of 41.4bhp at 10,750rpm, while peak torque of 3kgm is made at 9,000rpm.
The R3's 169kg wet weight is supported by telescopic front forks and a monoshock rear suspension. Stopping power is managed by a single front and rear disc brake, which are mounted on to smart looking ten-spoke alloys finished in black.
The R3 is available in two colour options – blue and black.
