The Triumph Bonneville has been spied again, this time on the road and testing in India. This bike is likely to debut around the festival season or by the end of 2026, and it will be the closest rival to the Royal Enfield Classic 350 that Bajaj has ever made.

  1. Uses a revised chassis with twin rear shock absorbers
  2. Likely to be priced below Rs 2 lakh

The upcoming Bonneville 400 will be the most differentiated model in the Triumph 400 series yet. The bike gets a new subframe that facilitates the use of a dual rear shock setup, which is apt for a classic retro-themed motorcycle like this. The front suspension is a simple telescopic fork like the one we’ve seen on the Triumph Speed T4, but with retro-styled gaiters. Braking continues to be handled by disc brakes at both ends, and it’s reasonable to expect dual-channel ABS.

The fuel tank shape is also different, and it appears to be larger than that of the current Speed/Scrambler/Thruxton. This is a good thing considering that those bikes look very slim. Other visible changes include a new circular display, though it is unknown whether this is a colour TFT or a simpler black-and-white LCD unit. The switchgear also appears to be fresh.

Visual elements like the side panels and seat not only add to the retro theme but are very in line with older parallel-twin Triumph Bonnevilles. This callback can also be seen in the single peashooter exhaust and the wire-spoked wheels, which will wear tubed tyres.

The motorcycle in these images has an all-black treatment on the engine cases as well as the exhaust. However, the earlier spy shot in India showed the bike with a polished metal finish on the engine cases and exhaust, which is more in line with a retro design. It is possible that multiple finishes will be available when the bike goes on sale.

This bike is expected to use the same 350cc motor, as seen on all locally manufactured Triumph models in India, and is likely to be in a similar state of tune to the lower-powered Speed T4, which makes 29hp and 31Nm.

The new Triumph Bonneville 400 is likely to go on sale in India in the second half of 2026, possibly by the festive season, and if not, by the end of the year. We expect prices to start below the Rs 2 lakh mark, where it can pose a direct threat to the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the RE Bullet 350.
