Honda has lately been launching quite a few retro-inspired models with the likes of the Hawk 11 cafe racer and the CB650R neo-retro bike. In fact, even its flagship superbike, the 30th anniversary special edition CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP features the same paint scheme as the original CBR900RR. Now, Honda has introduced three new electric mopeds in the form of the Cub e:, Dax e: and Zoomer e:, which have styling cues from some very popular petrol-powered Honda minibikes of yesteryear.

  1. All three have pedal assistance, 25kph top speed
  2. Range varies between 64km-90km on a single charge

Honda Cub e:, Dax e: and Zoomer e: details

Let’s begin with the Honda Cub e:, which arguably has the most familiar design (and name) of the lot. The design of the Cub e: is based on the bestselling two-wheeler in history, the original Honda Cub. In continuous series production since 1958, it got a thoroughly modern update in 2018 with the introduction of the Honda Super Cub C125. The Cub e: has a range of roughly 64km on a single charge.

The Honda Monkey has been the go-to choice for goofing around on two wheels for decades, but its slightly larger sibling, the ST70 (also known as the Dax) actually formed the design inspiration for the Dax e:. On a single charge, the Dax e: will be able to cover roughly 80km.

Last but not least is the Zoomer e:, which draws its design inspiration from the Ruckus scooter. The Honda Ruckus is powered by a tiny 49cc engine and is branded as an off-road capable scooter, evident in its blocky tire tread pattern. On a full charge, the Zoomer e: will be able to manage nearly 90km.

All three electric mopeds feature an electric powertrain and send power to the rear wheel via a chain final drive, while also getting pedal assistance in case you run out of juice. Top speed for all three stands at 25kph, and, for now, these are only being sold in the Chinese market with no plans to be sold elsewhere.

Of these three neo-retro mopeds, which one looks the most fun? Let us know in the comments section below.
