Harley-Davidson has released a teaser of what looks like the production-spec 1250 Custom that's expected to go on sale in late-2021.

  • Looks similar to the Harley-Davidson 1250 Custom

  • Expected to be powered by the new Revolution Max V-twin engine

  • Part of Harley-Davidson's new product strategy

Harley-Davidson 1250 Custom: design

While the bike is yet to be revealed in its entirety, the teaser does give away a few details about the design. The Harley-Davidson 1250 Custom in the pictures seems to share some of the design elements with the 1250 Custom concept motorcycle that was showcased a couple of years ago. This is evident from the shape of the fuel tank, seat and the fenders. The 1250 Custom is also expected to feature all-LED lights, with the rectangular headlamp resembling the one we've seen on the Harley-Davidson Fat Bob.

The side profile reveals a long and low stance, with a flat seat and tiny tail section. But what draws attention the most is the big V-twin engine and the twin, high-mounted exhaust pipes that look like a pair of Bazooka guns. It looks very dramatic and appears to gel with the rest of the design. Given its close proximity to the rider's legs, you'll also notice a substantial heat shield running over the exhaust pipe.

Other details that are visible include a circular instrument cluster that'll possibly be a TFT with Bluetooth connectivity, bar-end mirrors, and a few switches on the switch cubes to toggle between menus and settings on the dash.

Harley-Davidson 1250 Custom: engine

The Harley-Davidson 1250 Custom is expected to be powered by the 1,252cc, V-twin that debuted in the new Harley-Davidson Pan America. Called the Revolution Max, the engine in the Pan American Adventure motorcycle produces 150hp at 9,000rpm and 127Nm of torque at 6,750rpm. The liquid-cooled engine also features variable valve timing, double overhead camshafts and four-valve cylinder heads. It is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. We expect Harley-Davidson to tune this engine to suit the character of the 1250 Custom.

Harley-Davidson 1250 Custom: availability

The Harley-Davidson 1250 Custom is expected to be introduced in the latter-half of 2021. As part of Harley-Davidson's new product strategy, there is a lot riding on the shoulders of the new 1250 Custom, just like the new Panamanian Adventure motorcycle. Expect Harley-Davidson to launch the 1250 in international markets and it is likely go on sale in India, going by our earlier reports.
