Jawa 42 FJ spotted with a single sided exhaust

The Jawa 42 FJ was launched with a twin exhaust port in the cylinder head. Now, a test mule with single-sided exhaust has been spotted. Here are all the things we can deduce from the spy shots.

  1. Jawa 42 FJ currently has a twin-exit setup
  2. The updated bike is expected to be lighter

This single exit exhaust is expected to reduce the overall weight

The Jawa 42 FJ was launched last year. Although it shares its name with the Jawa 42, it has little else in common. It features an all-new chassis and a larger 334cc engine derived from the Jawa 350. At launch, this motor came equipped with a dual-exit exhaust – a setup that’s rather uncommon for a single-cylinder motorcycle. However, that is set to change if the test mule is anything to go by.

This single-exit exhaust is expected to bring several changes to how the engine sounds and feels. For reference, a similar engine is used in the Yezdi Adventure, where it is paired with a single-exit exhaust. The Adventure produces a flatter, more conventional single-cylinder exhaust note. In contrast, the current Jawa 42 FJ’s dual-exit exhaust delivers a more pronounced pulsing sensation – something that will likely change with the move to a single-sided setup.

There are speculations of it being an underbelly exhaust, which would further reduce ground clearance. Currently, the Jawa FJ 42 tips the scale at 184kg dry. The new step could result in weight loss.

It produces similar power as the Yezdi Roadster

The Jawa 42 FJ has a 334cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 29.17hp and 29.62Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Currently, the Jawa 42 FJ is priced between Rs 1.99 lakh and Rs 2.21 lakh. It remains to be seen when Classic Legends will launch the updated version of the 42 FJ.
