Slowly but steadily, Honda is updating its entire premium bike lineup to comply with the latest BS6.2/OBD-2 emissions standards. The latest model to join that bandwagon is the likeable CB300R naked bike, which is now priced at Rs 2.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

    1. Mechanically identical to earlier model
    2. Available in two colours – red and grey

The liquid-cooled, 286cc, single-cylinder engine in the CB300R is still good for the same 31hp and 27.5Nm of torque. The engine retains its earlier power figures have been despite the stricter emission norms and is still mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch. The CB300R’s lithe 146kg kerb weight is also carried over unchanged as are all the cycle parts.

Like Honda’s larger capacity motorcycles, the CB300R too has the emergency brake light feature, which flashes the indicators in quick succession when you press hard on the brakes, like in a panic-braking scenario. The bike is available in two colours – Pearl Spartan Red and Matte Massive Grey Metallic.

The Honda CB300R is entering the hotly-contested sub-400cc naked bike category and will have to square off against the likes of the KTM 390 Duke (Rs 3.11 lakh), Triumph Speed 400 (Rs 2.33 lakh), BMW G 310 R (Rs 2.90 lakh) and TVS Apache RTR 310 (Rs 2.43 lakh onwards).
