Harley-Davidson Fat Boy Gray Ghost revealed

Harley-Davidson has pulled the wraps off the limited-edition Fat Boy Gray Ghost that pays homage to the 1990 original Fat Boy and features a unique finish. It has been over three decades since the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy, which remains a cultural icon, first hit the streets.

  2. Mechanically unchanged from the standard bike

2025 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy Gray Ghost: What is it?

Only 1990 units of this model will be made.

The Fat Boy Gray Ghost is a modern reimagination of the original 1990 model, which became globally recognised thanks to its starring role in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

This new limited-edition motorcycle is the latest entrant in Harley-Davidson’s Icons Motorcycle Collection, a series that revives historic nameplates with 21st-century engineering. The company will produce only 1,990 units of this bike globally, a nod to the debut year of the original Fat Boy.

The standout feature is the reflective finish, an ultra-polished, mirror-like surface achieved through a physical vapour deposition (PVD) process. Unlike traditional chrome, this coating is more corrosion-resistant and has a much deeper sheen.

There’s also a clever use of yellow accents on the engine inserts, tank console and other key trim elements, subtly referencing the original’s yellow highlights. The round air cleaner, chunky disc wheels and the beefy fork give it the Fat Boy silhouette but with just enough bespoke bits to set it apart as a collector’s item.

At its heart lies a 1,923cc V-twin motor that delivers 101hp at 4,800rpm and 166Nm at 3,000rpm. The Gray Ghost retains the softail chassis from the standard Fat Boy and is suspended by a Showa front fork and a hidden monoshock at the rear. The seat height remains a low 655mm. The bike has wide-set handlebars and forward-set foot controls. It also features LED lighting all around, a semi-digital instrument cluster and keyless ignition.

The 2025 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy Gray Ghost is priced at $25,399 (approximately Rs 21.5 lakh) in the US. While there’s no official confirmation yet on its India launch, given the limited global production run of just 1,990 units, we expect only a handful, if any, to make it to our shores, likely through the CBU route.
