BluArmor has launched its third product, the C50 Pro, at Rs 24,999. The C50 Pro follows the C30 and the HS1 headset (we’ll be reviewing the latter soon, so keep an eye out), and is positioned as its flagship offering.

  1. Variety of mounting, controlling options
  2. Improved mesh, Bluetooth features
  3. Weight claimed to be as much as C30

BluArmor claims it has incorporated customers' feedback regarding the C30, addressed all those issues, and added new features to create the C50 Pro. The C50 Pro can be mounted to your helmet either via a magnetic mount (like a Cardo Packtalk Edge) or a conventional mount. BluArmor says that the C50 Pro is mounted at the back of the helmet so as to not disturb the helmet’s balance while riding.

The magnetic mount also gets a small lighting system, which can be customised to flash different colours in myriad patterns. Since this unit packs in a small IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), the system can detect when you’re braking or decelerating and will flash a red light accordingly. The IMU also has SOS functionality, and in the event of a mishap, it will automatically dial your pre-saved emergency contact number.

The device can be controlled in two ways: via three small buttons mounted on the helmet or by a wireless joystick that can be mounted on your handlebar (or anywhere else on your two-wheeler). The entire unit and all its components are IP67 certified for waterproofing.

While the C50 Pro continues to use mesh intercom, BluArmor claims it has refined the system for improved range, clearer audio and has also incorporated a new feature. The unit can now switch between mesh and cloud connectivity depending on the rider’s location and what system works well there. Using cloud connectivity is free for now, but in time, there will likely be a small fee for the same. It is worth noting that BluArmor’s mesh will not interface with Sena or Cardo’s system and the only way to connect the C50 to a 50S or Packtalk device is via Bluetooth.

BluArmor has also given you the option of connecting the C50 Pro to multiple different devices: a second phone, a GPS device and even an action camera. And the BluArmor app will also let you connect the device to your smartphone and control it from there.

The speakers on the C50 Pro are BluArmor’s own and the company gives you the option of both a boom mic or a smaller wired unit. BluArmor claims the C50 Pro has a claimed 16-hour battery life (based on music playback only), and the company claims it weighs the same 70gm as the C30, although the unit is much smaller in comparison.

The C50 Pro is listed at Rs 21,999 till September 1, and the company has rolled out a few offers for its customers. First is the Trailblazer offer, wherein the company will buy back your C30 at MRP (Rs 10,999), effectively pricing the C50 Pro at Rs 10,999. The second is the Trailblazer +1 offer, wherein you (an existing C30 owner) and a friend purchase a set of C50 Pro units, the company will buy back the C30 and sell you both a pair of C50s for Rs 10,999 each. Once the offer period is over, the C50 Pro will be priced at Rs 24,999. This makes it roughly Rs 10,000 more affordable than the comparable Sena or Cardo intercom device.

With the C50 Pro, BluArmor aims to take the fight to global brands like Cardo and Sena, and it will also begin exporting the C50 Pro soon. You can order the C50 Pro on the company’s website, but shipping is slated to begin in late September.
