Aprilia has said that its upcoming Tuareg adventure bike will be a focused off-roader with a 21-inch/18-inch wire-spoke wheel setup.

  • Expected to hit showrooms by the end of this year
  • The bike’s weight has been kept in check to aid agility
  • Will sit between the 10,000 to 14,000 mark in Europe

Aprilia’s 660cc parallel-twin motor already does duty in the RS 660 sportbike and Tuono 660 street naked, but perhaps its most interesting application will be in the upcoming Tuareg 660 adventure bike. In a recent interview with a local publication, Cristian Romeo Barelli, Aprilia’s product marketing specialist, has confirmed some details about the brand’s new ADV.

As per Barelli, the Tuareg will be a focused off-roader, complete with a 21-inch/18-inch wire-spoke wheel setup. This is inline with what has been spied on test mules recently. He also says that an effort has been made to keep weight to a minimum, to aid agility. As a result of this, it’s possible that the standard Tuareg will sport a slightly small fuel tank, and perhaps be followed up by a ‘Rally’ variant with higher fuel capacity.

The last bit of news is about price and availability. Though it will carry a 2022 model year tag, the Tuareg 660 is expected to hit showrooms by the end of this year. If Aprilia does meet this deadline, then it’s possible that the Tuareg will arrive in India sometime next year. But with COVID-19 still looming over us, nothing is certain at the moment. As and when it does hit European showrooms, the price tag is expected to be between €10,000 (approx. Rs 8.85 lakh) to €14,000 (approx. Rs 12.40 lakh). Other similar models currently in this price range include the Yamaha Tenere 700, Triumph Tiger 850 Sport and Tiger 900, and KTM 890 Adventure.
