We first caught a glimpse of the updated Triumph Tiger 1200 being tested earlier this year and later spotted the production-ready bike with Sam Sunderland as he attempted to beat the around-the-world record. The manufacturer has now officially taken the wraps off the updated model, which brings several significant changes. Globally, the bike will be offered in four variants – GT Pro, GT Explorer, Rally Pro and Rally Explorer. Triumph has confirmed that the bike will launch in India in March 2027, with the GT Pro and Rally Explorer variants.

  1. The 1,160cc triple now makes 158hp and 130Nm
  2. All four variants get a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel
  3. Gets a front and rear radar system

New Triumph Tiger 1200: What’s changed

Gets a more powerful engine, radar-based rider aids and self-lowering suspension

For starters, the new Tiger 1200 features a refreshed design, although it isn't a major departure from the existing models. The fuel tank, radiator cowls, beak and windscreen have been tweaked, giving the bike a fresh look.

The updated 1,160cc, liquid-cooled triple now makes 158hp at 9,250rpm and 130Nm at 6,750rpm – 8hp more than before, with peak torque arriving lower in the rev range. Triumph has achieved this through a redesigned cylinder head, pistons and exhaust, along with lighter intake and exhaust valves and more precise fuel injection. It has also changed the first three gear ratios and refined the six-speed gearbox and shaft drive.

Interestingly, the Tiger 1200 range has moved to a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination across all variants. The GT models have cast aluminium wheels, while the Rally models have spoked wheels. Wet weights range from 250kg for the GT Pro to 255kg for the Rally Pro, 260kg for the GT Explorer and 268kg for the Rally Explorer.

Suspension comes courtesy of Showa, with a 49mm USD fork and a monoshock with automatic self-levelling preload, both offering 200mm of travel. The system uses inputs from multiple sensors, including a six-axis IMU, to continuously adjust compression and rebound damping. It also features an automatic ride-height function that lowers the seat by 30mm when the bike comes to a stop. Triumph says that, with the optional low seat fitted and the automatic function active, the seat height at a standstill can be as low as 790mm.

Braking hardware includes twin 320mm front discs with Brembo Stylema calipers and a 282mm rear disc.

The Pro models have a 20-litre fuel tank, while the Explorer models get a 30-litre tank, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), lower engine bars, and handlebars positioned 10mm higher and 10mm wider. Heated rider and pillion seats, along with three-stage heated grips, are standard across the range.

Another notable addition is the front and rear radar system, which enables adaptive cruise control, group ride assist, forward collision warning, emergency brake assist and blind spot assist. There’s also a new 7-inch TFT touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

Triumph has confirmed the Tiger 1200 for India, with sales expected to begin in March 2027 in two variants: the GT Pro and Rally Explorer. The outgoing Tiger 1200 range is listed on Triumph India’s website with prices starting at Rs 19.39 lakh (ex-showroom), but these are MY24 models. We expect the new generation to command a premium over the current prices.
