KTM 690 SMC R, Enduro R: Changes to the engine

While power has increased, torque remains unchanged

Around half of the LC4 single’s internal components are new, including the crankcase, clutch and stator covers, oil-delivery system and fuel pump, and there’s revised valve timing. This has helped it produce a claimed 79hp and 73Nm while meeting the latest norms.

Additionally, rubber engine mounts have been introduced to reduce vibrations, the secondary air system has been removed for a simpler intake layout, and the exhaust has been reworked with a more compact muffler. Throttle response has been sharpened thanks to a new 65-degree twist grip, and KTM has extended maintenance intervals, with oil changes now due every 15,000km and valve clearance checks at 60,000km, up from 10,000km and 30,000km, respectively.
