Hero has launched the Xtreme 160R 4V in India, with prices beginning at Rs 1.27 lakh and going up to Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), depending on the variant. Most notably, this update brings a 37mm KYB USD fork and Showa monoshock, a more powerful 4-valve engine and a couple of other cosmetic changes.

  1. Available in 3 variants – Standard, Connected, Pro
  2. Only Pro variant gets a USD fork
  3. Oil-cooled engine now makes 16.9hp

2023 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V: what’s new?

The most obvious change visually on the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V is the new golden 37mm KYB USD fork that beefs up the front of the bike. The new monoshock is a 7-step preload adjustable unit by Showa. This special suspension hardware is only available on the top-spec Pro variant and the other two variants make do with a telescopic fork/monoshock set-up.

The bike can be had with either a single-seat or split-seat set-up, both interchangeable, and the tank extensions are longer and angular. It also gets a dual-tone paint scheme and a redesigned full-LED headlight. The new switchgear is more premium than before and is the same as the one on the updated Hero Xpulse 200 4V.

The 163cc, single-cylinder engine now features an oil-cooler, in addition to being air-cooled, and also has a more modern 4-valve head. This mill now makes 16.9hp at 8,500rpm and 14.6 Nm at 6,500rpm, which is an increase of 1.7hp over the 2-valve Xtreme 160R. The Standard and Connected variants of the Xtreme 160R 4V weigh 144kg, while the Pro variant weighs 145kg. The 12-litre fuel capacity and the rest of the cycle parts remain the same as the Xtreme 160R 2V

The Hero Xtreme 160R 4V gets a Bluetooth-enabled negative LCD display with call and notification alerts. The bike is also available with accessories, including a single seat, phone mount, bar end mirrors and more.

2023 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V: price, rivals

The Hero Xtreme 160R 4V can be had in three variants, Standard (Rs 1,27,300), Connected (Rs 1,32,800) and the Pro (Rs 1,36,500). The Standard variant comes with a telescopic fork and a single seat, the Connected variant comes with Bluetooth connectivity and the range-topping Pro variant comes with the USD fork, split-seat set-up and striking dual-tone colours. The Xtreme 160R 2V will stay on sale alongside this new bike and it is priced between Rs 1,18,886-Rs 1,30,008 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

At this price, the Xtreme 160R 4V is more expensive than the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar N160 (Rs 1.23 lakh-Rs 1.30 lakh) and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V (Rs 1.24 lakh-Rs 1.32 lakh). Bookings open from tomorrow and deliveries are scheduled to begin from the second week of July. Our review of this bike will be out soon so watch this space for more.
