Harley Davidson working on affordable platform aimed at new riders
CEO Jochen Zeitz confirms launch timeline and target pricing.
The news was shared by company CEO Jochen Zeitz during a Q2 2025 earnings call with investors. Zeitz revealed that the platform has been in development since 2021 and that it will launch with a price tag under USD 6000. For context, the most affordable model in Harley-Davidson’s current US line-up is the Nightster, which starts at USD 9,999. The company has faced significant revenue declines in recent years, and the Sprint is part of the company’s strategy to attract new riders and revive interest in the iconic American brand.
“We believe this motorcycle will not only be highly accessible but also profitable, marking a significant step forward in driving Harley-Davidson’s future profitable growth and opening up a new path in the motorcycle segment for the company in future years for its key markets,” Zeitz mentioned.
Harley-Davidson Sprint could come to India.
Zeitz does mention that it has been developed for US and international markets, but it remains uncertain whether the Sprint will make its way to India. Even if it does arrive, the USD 6,000 price tag suggests that it won’t undercut the locally manufactured Harley-Davidson X440 currently priced at Rs 2.39 lakh.
This isn’t the first time that the ‘Sprint’ badge will adorn a Harley-Davidson. Back in the 1960s, the brand partnered with Italian manufacturer Aermacchi to produce the original Sprint 250. The model was eventually updated with a larger 344cc engine, and remained on sale until 1974.
We expect to see this new model make its official debut at EICMA 2025, and more details on specifications should be available then.
