The third-gen Audi RS5 breaks cover as a plug-in hybrid performance offering.

Based on the 2024 Audi A5, the RS5 will be available in both sedan and Avant (estate) body styles.

RS5 gets smoked headlights, bigger air intakes, forged carbon air curtains, and a wider grille with diamond patterns.

ORVM housings are finished in forged carbon as well.

Alloy wheels can be optioned up to a whopping 21 inches, and ceramic brakes are available too.

RS5 Avant may not have the sedan's swooping roofline, but looks just as cool.

Charging port for plug-in hybrid powertrain is on the rear fender.

Bulging fenders make for a 90mm increase in width over the A5.

Both RS5s get an LED light bar, muscular bumper, and dual exhaust setup at the back, but the Avant gets a roof spoiler and the sedan a decklid one.

510hp 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 is mated to a 177hp electric motor for a combined output of 639hp.

0-100kph is claimed at 3.6 seconds, with a rated top speed of up to 285kph.

Audi has formally pulled the covers off the third-gen RS5, which will be sold in sedan and Avant (estate) forms. The 2026 Audi RS5 is based on the A5 that debuted in 2024. As is expected of an Audi RS model, the RS5 looks much more menacing and purposeful than the A5, sporting a 90mm wider bodykit with redesigned bumpers, new alloy wheels, forged carbon ORVM housings, a larger grille, and more. Under the bonnet, the new RS5 packs a plug-in hybrid setup comprising a 510hp/600Nm 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 and a 177hp/460Nm electric motor, generating a combined 639hp and 825Nm. This is routed to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, enabling a claimed 0-100kph of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of up to 285kph. Deliveries for the new RS5 will commence globally in summer 2026.
