The Kawasaki Z300 has been officially launched in India, serving as the new entry-level naked bike in the brand's Z lineup. It is based on the fully faired Ninja 300, with borrowed design cues from the larger Z900. The 296cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin-cylinder engine makes 40hp at 11,000rpm and 26.3Nm of torque at 10,000rpm (which is 1hp and 0.2Nm more than the Ninja 300), paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

On the features front, the Z300 gets a reverse LCD display - similar to the one seen on the Ninja 500 - but misses out on the smartphone connectivity. Apart from the aforementioned, the motorcycle remains largely similar to the Ninja. The cycle parts also have been carried forward from the Ninja 300, like the wheels, braking hardware, suspension units and the chassis. Because of the minimal bodywork the Z300(175kg) is 4kg lighter than the Ninja 300 (179kg).

Available at Rs 3.24 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the Kawasaki Z300 enters a competitive space alongside rivals like the 350cc KTM 390 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 310, Bajaj NS400Z, and Dominar 400. While most rivals in this segment rely on feature-heavy, high-performance single-cylinder engines, the Z300 stands out by offering better refinement and a premium badge.

Poll of the month

There will be 12 new Citroen and Jeep launches by 2030. Will this boost interest in these brands?

Yes, fresh models is just what's needed.
Only if sales and service expands alongside.
Won't be enough. Established brands are too strong.
