What The heart wants

Is the Punto diesel a good buy?

I have my heart set on the Punto Multijet diesel, but everyone I know is advising me against it mainly because of the maintenance costs and low resale value. But I really like the car and would like to know if I should go ahead and get it?

Sanjay, via email

AAA If your heart wants the Punto, then just go for it. True, Fiat’s service is not the best and it is more expensive to maintain than a Maruti. However, you are not buying a white elephant at all and if you look after the car well, there is no reason why the Punto can’t give you a trouble-free experience. But, prepare for some heart-burn if something goes wrong.
