The BE 6 is Mahindra's Boldest Statement Yet

Radical, despite being a word that can be used in any number of contexts, seldom finds its way into the automotive space with true merit. But that’s exactly what the Mahindra BE 6 brings to the table. From its striking design to its ₹26.9 lakh price tag (ex-showroom; charger price extra), everything about this electric SUV is as radical as it gets.

Building on Mahindra’s success with ICE-powered models, the BE 6 is a bold step into the future. As a ground-up EV built on the modular INGLO platform, it’s not just an electrified version of an ICE model - it’s born electric. The result? A race-ready, rear-wheel-drive SUV with athletic proportions, aircraft-inspired design elements, and cockpit-like controls that deliver a performance unlike anything else in its segment.

    Cutting-Edge, Aircraft-Inspired Design

Right from first glance, the BE 6 commands attention with its chiselled, athletic silhouette. Every line serves purpose—sleek, aerodynamic design that helps it slice through air with minimal drag, enhancing both range and performance. The aggressive front fascia is complemented by sharp LED headlamps and a swooping roofline that flows cleanly into a sleek rear end, giving it a coupe-like stance.

The BE 6's aircraft-inspired gear selector adds excitement before you even get going.

From the back, the full-width LED light bar accentuates the car’s futuristic intent, while flared arches and sporty proportions hint at the muscle underneath. The entire package is as much about form as it is about function.

    Race-Ready Electric Performance

The BE 6 isn’t just a looker - it backs it up with serious pace. Powered by a rear-wheel-drive motor, the top-spec 79kWh variant churns out 286hp and 380Nm of torque, rocketing from 0-100kph in just 6.7 seconds - making it the fastest accelerating production car from an Indian manufacturer. Even the smaller 59kWh variant packs a punch with 231hp and identical torque.

The rear end of the Be 6 has 'fun' written all over it.

But it's not just speed that defines the BE 6. The 'Boost' mode unleashes maximum performance at the press of a steering-mounted button, which is ideal for quick overtakes or spirited sprints. Whether in city traffic or on wide open highways, the BE 6 remains composed, linear, and always engaging.

    Intelligent Ride and Handling

Balancing agility and comfort is no easy feat, but the BE 6 achieves it with poise. The low centre of gravity from its underfloor battery enhances stability, while intelligent adaptive dampers adjust damping based on the selected drive mode. Choose ‘Range’ mode for plush ride comfort or dial up ‘Race’ mode for sharper dynamics—yes, even through twisty ghats.

With 207mm of ground clearance and chunky 245-section tyres, this SUV handles poor roads with ease. Despite its athletic stance, the BE 6 is built for Indian conditions, effortlessly soaking up speed bumps, potholes, and uneven surfaces.

Steering feel is sharp and direct, and being rear-wheel-driven, it rewards spirited driving with balanced dynamics and engaging handling. Body roll is tightly controlled, giving the BE 6 the composure of far more expensive luxury SUVs.

    Braking and Energy Recovery

With performance comes responsibility—and the BE 6’s brake-by-wire setup ensures braking is just as refined as acceleration. The system seamlessly blends regenerative and friction braking, enabling smooth deceleration and enhancing efficiency.

Four levels of regen, including a one-pedal driving mode, allow drivers to fine-tune how aggressively the car recovers energy. Whether you're coasting on the highway or navigating stop-and-go traffic, there’s a setting for everyone.

    The Cockpit of Tomorrow

Slide into the BE 6 and you’re greeted by a futuristic cockpit that feels straight out of an aircraft. The wraparound halo loop isn’t just for aesthetics—it enhances the sense of immersion and control. A sleek, ultra-wide digital display and a floating centre touchscreen house everything from infotainment to drive modes and climate settings.

Sitting behind the wheel of the BE 6 makes you feel like you're in the cockpit of a fighter jet.

Tech lovers, rejoice: You get an immersive 360-degree sound system, seamless smartphone connectivity, advanced navigation, over-the-air updates, and a crystal-clear 360-degree camera. A self-parking function, ADAS features, and an augmented-reality head-up display ensure that tech is at the heart of the experience, enhancing both safety and convenience.

    Real-World Ready

Claimed range stands at up to 683km (MIDC) for the 79kWh variant and approximately 557km (MIDC) for the 59kWh model. While real-world range will naturally vary based on driving style and conditions, users can realistically expect 480-500km and 380-400km respectively, thanks to the BE 6’s efficient powertrain and regenerative systems.

    The Future, Now

The Mahindra BE 6 isn’t just another electric SUV—it’s a bold, all-new vision of what Indian performance EVs can be. With an athletic design, race-ready dynamics, cockpit-inspired interiors, and intelligent tech, the BE 6 offers a compelling look at the future—one that’s electric, exciting, and entirely made in India.
