My monthly running is 1000 km. Occasionally, on a highway tour. Now, I am looking for an SUV ( Petrol) which is comfortable for a family tour, has a good sound system, good avg., and impressive road presence. My budget is 20 to 25 on-road price. Please suggest.

Pick the Kia Seltos 1.5 petrol automatic. For your 1000 km a month and occasional highway trips, it balances family comfort, a genuinely good sound system, and sensible running costs better than the others in this price band. The Bose audio in the higher trims is the best you’ll get here, the cabin is spacious enough for four adults and a child, the boot is holiday-friendly, and the seats keep you fresh on long drives. It also looks sharp and upmarket, so you get the road presence you want without blowing the budget.

Expect roughly 10 kpl in the city and 14 to 16 kpl on open roads if you drive smoothly, which is fair for a petrol SUV this size. Your budget of Rs. 20-25 lakh on-road should comfortably cover a well-equipped Seltos automatic in most cities.

One thing to know: the ride is a touch firm at low speeds on broken roads. If mileage is your absolute priority, the Maruti Grand Vitara or Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder strong hybrid will beat it on kpl, but their audio and overall punch aren’t as satisfying.

Good suggestion by Autocar, Also consider into the Fray , Victoris strong Hybrid, there is a reason it is Indian Car of the Year. Maruti's most polished product and realy solid car. Although it has notable shortcomings in comparison to Seltos but it is better on other fronts. Similarly, go for a test ride of THAR ROXX if you're looking for proper Suv

Hi, I am a first-time car buyer and earn around Rs 1 lakh per month. I am planning to buy a car this year and have shortlisted the Maruti Brezza facelift, Hyundai Venue and Kia Seltos. My usage will be roughly 50% in the city and 50% on the highway. Which of these would be the better choice for a first-time buyer? In the Brezza facelift, the 1.5-litre engine costs around Rs 1 lakh more than the 1.0-litre turbo. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza 1.5 petrol automatic would be the best fit for you. As a first-time buyer with a 50:50 city-highway usage pattern and comfort and ease of driving as priorities, the Brezza's smooth, predictable power delivery, light controls and comfortable ride make it the easiest car here to live with. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine is also the better choice if you want an automatic. At the same time, the 1.0-litre turbo makes sense mainly if you prefer a manual and want stronger mid-range performance. The extra Rs 1 lakh for the 1.5 is worth spending if the automatic is the preference.The new Hyundai Venue is more feature-rich and feels more modern inside, while its 1.0-litre turbo offers stronger performance than the Brezza 1.5. However, its DCT is not as effortless as a torque converter in slow city traffic, so it isn't the first choice if easy driving is the priority. The new Kia Seltos is the most premium and spacious of the three and would be the better choice if the budget comfortably allows it, but it is a significant step up in price and may not be the wisest choice on a Rs 1 lakh monthly income.

My total monthly running is around 2,000 km between Delhi and Gurgaon. I am planning to purchase the Kia Seltos GTX DCT. Should I go ahead with this car, or would it be better to wait for the Seltos and Creta hybrid models, which are expected to launch next year?

With a monthly running of around 2,000km on a Delhi-Gurgaon commute, your usage is high and largely predictable. The Kia Seltos GTX DCT is a good car, but the turbo-petrol DCT is not the best fit for this kind of usage. DCT gearboxes are at their best in spirited driving and can be less comfortable in heavy traffic, while turbo-petrol engines are not the most efficient option for high-mileage ownership.Given your running, a diesel Seltos would actually be the more sensible choice today. It will prove to be more efficient, well-suited to long commutes and offer a strong ownership proposition. However, since you are already considering waiting, it is worth holding on for the upcoming Seltos and Hyundai New Creta hybrid models expected next year. A strong hybrid will deliver significantly better fuel efficiency in your kind of usage and will be a better long-term ownership proposition than a turbo-petrol DCT.If you need the car immediately, go for the Seltos diesel. If you can wait, the hybrid is the smarter long-term choice.

We would strongly advise against installing aftermarket CNG on any of these SUVs. All three – the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV 7XO and Scorpio N - are large, heavy vehicles with powerful turbocharged petrol engines. Fitting CNG to such engines is not recommended, as it can lead to drivability issues, increased wear and potential reliability concerns over time. More importantly, these SUVs are not designed with CNG in mind, and the installation can compromise safety and performance.If fuel economy is a top priority, opt for their diesel versions instead. The Mahindra and Tata offer strong torque, excellent highway efficiency and are well-suited to long-distance touring. If you are set on CNG, it is better to look at smaller, naturally aspirated petrol cars that are either factory-fitted or specifically designed for CNG use.Between the three, the XUV 7XO diesel would be our recommendation. It offers a more modern package, better ride comfort and a more premium cabin than the Scorpio N, while the Safari diesel is also a strong contender if you prefer Tata's design and feature set. But CNG should not be the deciding factor here.

I currently use a Skoda Slavia Ambition 1.0 automatic since last 4 years. Now, I am thinking of switching the car but I am confused between Honda Elevate V CVT petrol and Kia Seltos HTK iVT petrol.

Given that you are coming from a Skoda Slavia 1.0 TSI automatic, the Kia Seltos HTK IVT petrol is the more natural upgrade. The Seltos offers a noticeably larger and more premium cabin, better rear seat space and a more substantial feel overall. The IVT gearbox is smooth and well-suited to city driving, and the car feels like a genuine step up from the Slavia in terms of comfort and overall ownership experience.The Honda Elevate V CVT petrol is a solid and reliable choice, but it does not feel like as much of an upgrade from the Slavia. The cabin is not as spacious or as premium as the Seltos, and the overall ownership experience is more about simplicity and reliability than about feeling like a significant step up.The only caveat with the Seltos HTK is that it is not the most feature-rich variant in the lineup. If you can stretch to a higher variant, the Seltos becomes an even stronger recommendation. If not, it is still the better choice over the Elevate because it offers a more substantial upgrade from your current car.
