My monthly running is 1000 km. Occasionally, on a highway tour. Now, I am looking for an SUV ( Petrol) which is comfortable for a family tour, has a good sound system, good avg., and impressive road presence. My budget is 20 to 25 on-road price. Please suggest.

Should I sell my petrol car and go for the 1.5L diesel Seltos automatic? I also want all the features that are available in my current car. And if your monthly running is significantly higher than before, it does make sense to opt for the diesel. Sure, a diesel-automatic will be more expensive to buy than a corresponding petrol-automatic; however, it will be much more fuel-efficient, so you will make up for the price difference if your usage is significant. The diesel engine is quite smooth, and its strong low‑end pull makes overtaking and cruising at full load easier. The 6‑speed automatic is smooth and suits long drives well.Ensure you regularly drive the diesel Seltos on the highway to maintain engine health, as the DPF tends to clog in frequent slow-moving traffic conditions. But if your usage is primarily in the city, with infrequent highway running, we'd recommend opting for the petrol version instead. Or you could consider a Hyundai Creta Electric instead.

Hi, Need your advice on choosing between the Kia Seltos 1.5 DCT, Renault Duster 1.3 DCT, and Skoda Kushaq 1.5 DSG. This will be our first car. We live in Bangalore, and our usage will be roughly 400-500 km/month in bumper-to-bumper city traffic, 500 km/month on highways, plus one 1,000 km road trip every quarter. I've driven (test drive in city) the Seltos and Kushaq, but not the Duster yet. I loved the plush ride and comfort of the Seltos. My wife's cousin, who owns a Slavia, says it's firm in the city road (but manageable) and much more stable on highways. Considering our usage, comfort, city drivability, highway stability, and long-term ownership, which one would we pick and why?

All three options have their highlights. The Kushaq is the most enjoyable to drive, the Duster feels the most rugged, while the Seltos feels the plushest. Given your usage, we'd recommend the Skoda Kushaq 1.5 TSI DSG as the best pick. It's got the nicest gearbox, feels the peppiest, and will liven up your frequent highway drives. There is a firmness to the suspension, but it's not uncomfortable. The Skoda feels smaller than the others, and the positive to that is that it will put the driver at greater ease in congested city roads. On the flipside, the Kushaq isn't as spacious as the Duster or Seltos and is best thought of as a four-seater - the rear seat is not ideal for three passengers. If you want a more complete all-rounder, the Kia Seltos is a great pick. The DCT isn't the smoothest in town, though.

Hi, I am looking for any automatic SUV between Rs. 15 -20 lakhs on road price at Bangalore. Can u guide which would be the best option? My usage and criteria are as follows: 1. Heavy city usage - approx. 60kms per day (hence prefer TC or CVT transmission)- around 1200-1500 kms per month 2. Monthly 1 or 2 highway drive @ approx 300kms 3. I am ok with any fuel type 4. Is it prudent to go for ICE or EV for the above criterion 5. Want impeccable after-sales service as I would own only one vehicle (I don't even own a two-wheeler)

The Kia Seltos IVT is the best pick for your needs. Its slick gearbox delivers a very smooth experience in typical city driving, and there's enough performance for your 300km highway runs. The Seltos also feels plush, offers good ride comfort and is roomy inside. It also packs in plenty of tech, so the car won't feel outdated even over a long ownership period. Kias are reliable, and service support is generally very good.An EV would be smoother still in city driving, but few of the options within your budget would deliver a comfortable 300km on a single charge for your highway drives. The Tata Nexon EV and MG WIndsor Pro with the big battery options are worth a look.
