I want to buy a car under Rs 18 lakh with ventilated seats. Which one would you suggest?

Go for the Kia Syros HTX (O) 1.0 T-GDi DCT. At under Rs 18 lakh, it offers ventilated seats not only at the front but at the rear as well. Syros is also one of the most spacious compact SUVs on the market. The long wheelbase makes it a genuinely comfortable five-seater, and the overall value proposition is very strong at this price. The only real drawback is the ride comfort, which can feel a little choppy, and some do not like the looks so much.

Alternatively, you can check out the Hyundai Venue, which, though not as spacious, comes pretty close and is a better all-rounder. Or even the Tata Nexon and Skoda Kylaq, which are both fun-to-drive compact SUVs with ventilated front seats.

Hello experts, I want your advice on Hyundai Venue N Line N6 or Honda Elevate V or SV model for daily commute of around 500 km monthly running in Delhi traffic. I am planning to maintain the vehicle for approximately 10 years.

At merely 500km a month in Delhi traffic, your usage is quite limited. The Hyundai Venue N Line N6 MT is a sportier-looking version of the Venue, that is bound to stand-out in a crowd. The turbo-petrol engine is smooth and refined, and the 6-speed manual gearbox is slick too. Do note, that its clutch effort is low, however the travel is on the longer side and the action is a bit springy - this might take some time to get used to. Overall though, it is quite user-friendly with a light steering, good visibility and its relatively compact dimensions. Also, being a Hyundai, you're backed by its widespread support network, and the ownership experience is likely to be fuss-free.Go for the Honda Elevate only if you value cabin and boot space more. An added advantage of the Elevate is its more responsive naturally aspirated petrol engine, as well as its excellent ride-handling balance. And being a Honda Jazz owner, you're likely to be familiar with Honda's sorted service experience too. The Elevate is a fuss-free, sensible choice, but for a sportier driving feel, and its uniqueness, the Venue N Line gets our vote.

Hello Team, I am planning to buy a new car with an on-road budget of Rs. 11-14 lakh. I currently live in Gurgaon and may shift to Bengaluru or Mumbai depending on my job. My driving is split roughly 80% city and 20% highway/outdoor trips. I mostly drive alone or with my partner, with occasional family trips for five people once or twice a quarter. I need a car that can handle Indian roads and potholes well and is sturdy enough to deal with the occasional bumps and minor knocks in city traffic. I would prefer cruise control and a rear parking setup as standard features. A sunroof, ADAS, etc. would be nice to have but are not essential. I currently drive a 2018 Honda City V i-VTEC. Please suggest some good options. Thanks!

Given your budget of Rs 11-14 lakh, your 80% city usage, and the fact that you are moving between Gurgaon, Bengaluru and Mumbai, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is the best fit. This Mahindra car is one of the most spacious compact SUVs, has a wide cabin that makes it a genuinely comfortable five-seater for those occasional family trips, and it is also one of the safest cars in the segment. The 3XO also rides well over bad roads and feels sturdy enough to handle the kind of urban driving conditions you are describing. It also comes well equipped with cruise control, a rear parking camera and a good feature set even in the mid variants, so you are not forced to stretch your budget for essentials.If you want something slightly more premium and are willing to compromise a bit on rear seat space, the Skoda Kylaq is a good alternative. It is a more engaging car to drive, has a solid build and also rides well over bad roads, but it is not as spacious at the rear as the 3XO. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is another option if you want the lowest running costs and the widest service network, but it does not feel as premium or as feature-rich as the Mahindra or the Skoda.Overall, the XUV 3XO strikes the best balance between space, safety, ride comfort and features within your budget.

This is on behalf of my friend. He owns an MG Astor, which was one of the first batches of Astors produced. It is a non-E20 vehicle and is giving very poor mileage of around 7 kmpl. He drives around 1,000 km a month, and the car has clocked 39,000 km. It is the Smart CVT variant. Should he resell it now and get a diesel car like the Nexon or Altroz? He likes power and would prefer at least a basic level of features equivalent to those in his Astor. If it is advisable to replace the car, how much can he expect to get by selling it in Chennai? What cars could he consider in the Rs. 11-13 lakh on-road price range in Chennai?

With 1,000km a month, your friend is doing about 12,000km a year, which is right on the threshold where a diesel can start to make sense, especially if he enjoys power and wants better fuel efficiency. The MG Astor CVT is not known for great fuel economy, and 7kmpl is on the lower side, but not entirely surprising for a petrol automatic in mixed conditions. The bigger concern is that the car is from the first batch and has already clocked 39,000km, so if he is not happy with the ownership experience, this is a reasonable time to move on.In the Rs 11-13 lakh on-road range in Chennai, the Hyundai Venue diesel is a strong option. This Hyundai car offers good performance, solid build quality, a good amount of space and an enjoyable driving experience, and of course will offer better real-world mileage than the Astor. As for resale, a 39,000km first-batch Astor in Chennai should realistically fetch somewhere in the Rs 7-8 lakh range, but all depending on condition, service history and variant. The key is to be realistic about the depreciation and focus on the long-term savings and improved ownership experience with the new car.Overall, if he is unhappy with the Astor and wants better fuel efficiency and more power, moving to a diesel Venue is a sensible decision.

However, at this level of running, the fuel savings over a petrol car will take a long time to offset the higher upfront cost of the EV. If you have reliable home charging and are keen on the EV ownership experience, the Punch EV is a sensible upgrade from your ageing City. If your priority is purely financial efficiency, a small petrol automatic like the Honda Amaze or Maruti Suzuki Baleno would be the more cost-effective choice.

Go for the Kia Seltos HTK (O) IVT at Rs 18.14 lakh on-road. Your budget of Rs 19 lakh gives you enough room to get a large, spacious and well-equipped midsize SUV, and the Seltos is the sweet spot. The IVT gearbox is smooth and well-suited to Bangalore traffic, while the 1.5 petrol is refined and reliable. The HTK (O) trim is feature-rich, so you are not compromising on equipment. The Seltos also offers better rear seat space and comfort than the others, making it a better choice for occasional family trips. The Creta SX (O) might sound like better value with a few more features, but the Seltos's larger size, better quality and new-age tech push it ahead overall. The Venue HX8 turbo automatic at Rs 15.4 lakh is a good deal, but it is a segment below, and you would be compromising on space and comfort.
