I’m planning to buy an EV with a budget of Rs. 19 - 20 lakh. My heart says the Tata Sierra EV Pure 63, but my mind says the Kia Syros top variant because of features like ventilated seats. Kindly suggest which one would be the better choice.

The choice really comes down to your usage and what you value in the car. If you need more space for both passengers and luggage and have a few long drives that you would undertake, then opt for the Tata Sierra. It is a much larger car and has a very spacious interior. The ride quality is also very good over both bad city roads as well as high highway speeds. If, however, your usage is mainly going to be within the city, then the Kia Syros is the better buy. Its compact footprint will be much easier to manage while driving congested streets, and finding parking would be easier. You would also enjoy the top variant and its features.

Hi, we are confused between two cars: the Tata Sierra Pure Plus Diesel, which costs us around Rs. 19 lakh on-road, and the Nissan Teckton N-Connecta 1.3 or 1.0. I'm an employee who rides my vehicle to work every day on a combination of bumpy roads, ghat roads, and highways, covering 96km daily up and down. We are a family of four and also have a dog. Considering these factors, is the Thar ROXX an option for me, or are there any better alternatives? I have previously driven a 2021 Venue, Alto, and Baleno. My budget is around Rs 10-25 lakh.

The Thar Roxx is a fun and capable off-roader, but it is not the right choice for your usage. Your 96 km daily commute on a mix of bumpy roads, ghats and highway demands a car that is comfortable, efficient and easy to live with. This Mahindra car is heavy, has a bouncy ride, limited boot space and is not very fuel-efficient either. It is best suited as a second car or a weekend adventure vehicle.Given your requirements, the Tata Sierra diesel is the best fit. It has an engine that's strong enough to handle your highway and ghat sections with ease, a comfortable ride, a spacious cabin for your family and a large boot for your dog and luggage. It is also far more efficient and refined for daily use than the Thar Roxx. If you want something more premium and comfortable, the Mahindra XUV 7XO is also worth considering, but the Sierra will be more fuel-efficient, and you will get a top-spec variant in your budget.

The Tata Sierra is priced well above Rs 10 lakh, so sadly it is not a realistic option within your budget. You will also have to stretch your budget by a couple of lakhs to get an entry-level Tata Curvv. If you're on a tight budget, consider the Tata Nexon instead.

I currently own a Skoda Kushaq Petrol AT. Everything is fine except the mileage. I am getting only around 10-13kpl with E20 petrol. My daily running is around 100 km. Should I buy a diesel car or an electric car?

The Skoda Kushaq petrol automatic is a good car, but the 10-13kpl you are seeing is typical for a turbo petrol automatic, especially with E20 petrol. At this usage, a diesel or a strong hybrid makes far more sense.If you do regular highway runs, a diesel is still the most practical and cost-effective solution. The Mahindra XUV 7XO diesel automatic would be the recommendation here. It is a strong highway car, comfortable, spacious and the diesel engine will deliver significantly better fuel efficiency than your Kushaq.
