I wish to purchase an ICE vehicle in the Rs. 8-10 lakh price range during this Diwali. I have shortlisted the Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and Honda Amaze. My monthly driving is around 900-1,100 km, with approximately 60% highway usage and 40% city driving. My priorities are engine refinement, safety, and low maintenance costs. I am not interested in Tata vehicles, and I would also prefer to avoid brands such as Renault, Citroën, and Nissan, as they do not have service centres in my district. Based on these requirements, which car would you recommend?

Go for the Honda Amaze. The Amaze has a full 5-star crash safety rating from Bharat NCAP and the sedan feels stable on the highways. The 1.2 i‑VTEC petrol engine is peppy and smooth, and Honda’s service costs stay sensible over time. The big boot makes road trips easier, and its ride keeps passengers comfortable on mixed roads. Mid trims should sit close to your Rs. 8-10 lakh window.

One catch with the Amaze is the power. With a full load you will need a downshift for quick overtakes, and it gets a bit vocal when revved hard. If that is fine, it best fits what you want: smooth engine, stable and confident on the highway, and low, predictable maintenance from a brand with a wide network.

With 500 km of monthly running and mostly weekend driving, the Hyundai Venue HX5+ is a solid SUV choice. The 1.2-litre engine is very refined and fairly responsive for city use. On the highway, it will cruise comfortably, but it can feel a bit breathless when pushed. If you usually carry only one or two passengers, this shouldn't be an issue. However, if you frequently travel with a full load, you may feel the need for more performance. This is where the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is a better bet. For a similar price, you get a turbo-petrol manual, which offers better performance when required. The cabin is also wider, making it more comfortable for three passengers at the rear; however, it doesn't feel as modern inside as the Venue.Consider the Honda Amaze if you want the convenience of an automatic transmission, but otherwise, the Venue is the better choice.

A few things about my usage: I'm a first-time driver, so I want something easy to drive, and that helps me build confidence. Right now, the car will be used occasionally, but the usage could increase over the next few years. My parents will also be driving it sometimes, so ease of driving and comfort are important. I'm looking for a reliable car that doesn't give frequent issues and is easy to own. Which of these would you recommend based on my requirements? Also, if I go with the Kylaq, is the Signature+ AT really worth paying around Rs. 2 lakh more than the Signature AT? Between your picks, the Skoda Kylaq and Honda Amaze are the best bets for your needs. The Amaze CVT is smooth, the car is compact and easy to manoeuvre, and Honda’s reliability and low maintenance costs make it a stress-free ownership experience. It is also a proper automatic gearbox, unlike the AMT in the Punch, which can feel jerky at low speeds.The Kylaq is more fun to drive and has the most premium feeling of the three. The 1.0 TSI engine also offers the most performance, which will be handy on the highway, but will also consume more fuel in the city. Its torque converter automatic is very smooth shifting and makes driving in the city very easy. What also helps is that you sit higher than the Amaze, which will give you a bit more confidence in tight city traffic. The downside is that Skoda’s service network is not as widespread as Honda’s, and upkeep can cost more. As for the variant, the Signature+ AT adds a couple of useful features like a reversing camera and a larger infotainment screen, but it is not worth paying Rs 2 lakh extra over the Signature AT. Between these two, the Amaze ZX CVT is the better fit for your requirements - easy to drive, reliable, comfortable and hassle-free to own.

Due to e20 concern, I am hesitant to buy Slavia, as a European car may need only xp95 or xp100, which will have high running cost, so I kept 2 more options of hybrid & EV. Can I put normal E20 to slavia1.5dsg, and with all 3, which one should I pick? All 3 cars are almost 25L on road.
