Honda’s Super Cub scooter is the most popular motorised vehicle ever sold. It has weathered generations of technological, mechanical and design trends while managing to retain its quintessence. Now, staying abreast the green wave, Honda has displayed a futuristic electric concept based on the scooter at the 2016 Auto Expo – the EV Cub.

Similar to the new Super Cub concept in design, the EV Cub has been described by Honda as “a personal commuter model for short-distance commuting that follows the concept of an ‘easy-to-handle and economical motorcycle’”.

The scooter looks futuristic while maintaining the original design of the Super Cub. The instrument panel has been replaced by a single screen and the Y-shaped handlebars have been integrated with the body. The scooter also gets 10-spoke alloy wheels. The rechargeable battery has been placed in a low and central position to lower the scooter’s centre of gravity and to make it easier to mount and dismount the scooter. Also, the battery has been made detachable, so that users can take it into their homes and charge it directly from a wall socket.
