Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm to go underway on February 23

Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm rally.

The 13th edition of the Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm rally will be flagged off from New Delhi on February 23. The six day event will cover 2,300km, starting from New Delhi, going through Sardarshahar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and will conclude on March 1 in Jaipur. This is also the first time that the Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm rally will have a 150km night stage. So far, over 130 teams have registered for the rally. 
 
The Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm rally will be divided into three categories - XTreme, NDure XPlore and Moto Quad. The 150km night stage will start at midnight from Sardarshahar and will go up to Bikaner. Divided into five legs the rally will see participants tracing the Thar desert. 
 
The Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm will see defending champion and Dakar rally rider, C S Santosh on his Suzuki. This year, about 20 women riders have registered for the rally. 
 
Announcing the rally, Mahohar Bhat, Vice President, Marketing, Maruti Suzuki India said, “Maruti Suzuki has been at the forefront of extreme motorsports in India. An extreme endurance event of marathon proportions, Desert Storm is one of India’s most gruelling rallies. Motorsport rallies bring out the best in man and machine and we are looking forward to exceedingly exciting times ahead.”
