Honda Racing India has wrapped up the 2022 Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) with a ninth spot in the overall championship. The finale at Thailand’s Chang International Circuit also saw Kavin Quintal score his best-ever result in the Thailand Talent Cup, with a seventh place finish.

  • Honda India finishes ninth out of 14 teams
  • Quintal seventh in Thailand Talent Cup Race 2

Rajiv Sethu closes the season with a total of 37 points, earning him a spot in the top 15 in the riders’ championship. He finished the first race in 17th place and followed that up with 10th place in Race 2. Starting from 18th on the grid, he gained a place on the opening lap itself. Taking full advantage of the wet conditions and benefitting from his rivals crashing out, he was able to climb from 18th to 10th.

Senthil Kumar completed Race 1 in 19th place. In the next race, he lost a handful of positions after going off track on Lap 2, but recovered to finish 14th. Both Sethu and Kumar’s performances have helped Honda Racing finish ninth (out of 14 teams) in the teams’ championship.

“After a gap of two years due to COVID-19, our riders were confident and motivated to take on all the challenges and displayed exemplary performances throughout the season. The zeal of our riders and the progress of the team on the international platform show that we are on the right track in promoting motorsports in India and supporting to develop future international champions from India,” said Atsushi Ogata – managing director, president & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.

Quintal records best result yet in Thailand Talent Cup

The finale of the Thailand Talent Cup was also held alongside the ARRC finale. The series is part of Honda’s development programme for Asian riders and is run on Moto-3 spec NSF250R bikes.

Kavin Quintal bagged five points for finishing 10th in Race 1. He further improved on that result in Race 2, where he maintained steady momentum and waited for the right moment to pull off an overtake to finish seventh. This is the Chennai teenager’s best-ever finish in the series.

In what was his second outing on International soil, Mohsin Paramban finished 17th and 13th in the two races.
