Anushirya Gulati wins 2022 Formula Woman competition

Around 800 passionate female racers from around the world applied for this year’s Formula Woman competition. Gulati, along with Deepa John and Pragathi Gowda, won the Formula Woman India assessment and progressed to the global finals in the UK.

The 75 finalists battled it out through three days of eliminations at the PF International and Croft Circuit. Gulati emerged as one of the top 11 drivers and moved on to the final shootout in Sweden. Here, the finalists were judged based on their performance, control, attitude and awareness. The panel was led by British GT racer Mia Flewitt and also included ice driving experts and rally coaches.

Gulati aced this final shootout as well, and has been selected as one of the four drivers of the Formula Woman GT Cup Team. The other winners are Erika Hoffman (Canada), Jodi Sloss (Scotland) and Sara Misir (Jamaica). They’ll be split into two pairs, while Steph Sore (England) and Amy Riley (England) will serve as reserve drivers.

    2022 UK GT Cup

The GT Cup is an established part of the UK motorsport scene. The 2022 championship will comprise a total of 26 races – all of which will be held at UK circuits – including iconic venues like Silverstone and Brands Hatch. The championship kicks off on April 9 at Donington Park National.

DTO Motorsport will be running the two McLaren 570s GT4 cars for the Formula Woman GT Cup Team. “A huge congratulations to our four drivers and two reserves. I am absolutely delighted with the selection and satisfied that the right choices have been made,” said Graeme Glew, founder of Formula Woman.

“We would also like to welcome DTO Motorsport. We are excited to have their professional organisation as part of the GT Cup family. They have a very good reputation, which will be a great asset to the championship,” she added.
