After 16 dominant rounds of the 2025 MotoGP season so far, Marc Marquez has clinched his seventh premier class title. He needed to outscore his brother Alex by just 3 points going into this round and after finishing second, the number 93 sealed the deal for his first MotoGP crown with Ducati.

  1. Marquez wins the world title with five rounds to spare
  2. This is his first title with Ducati

Marc Marquez equals Valentino Rossi in terms of World Titles

Both Marquez and Rossi now have nine titles to their name.

Between his MotoGP debut in 2012 and his final title with Honda in 2019, Marc Marquez won six premier-class titles with HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) in a dominant fashion. But, after a horrific injury in the pandemic-marred 2020 MotoGP season, Marc Marquez went through a long and arduous recovery process (both mentally and physically) and eventually swapped out a long-time partnership with Big Red for the Bologna Bullet (Ducati).

The season he returned (2024) aboard a satellite Ducati – with the Gresini team – saw him take impressive wins and fight at the front on year-old machinery without factory support, prompting Ducati to sign him for the 2025 season over 2024 World Champion Jorge Martin – a move that has emphatically paid off!

With this seventh World Championship title, Marc Marquez has now equalled the record set by Valentino Rossi and this now paves the way for Marquez to potentially eclipse Rossi if he wins one more title in the coming years – something that could very well happen given his current electric form.
