Over the years, the Western India Automobile Association’s (WIAA) Women’s Rally to the Valley has grown to become an eagerly awaited event for female automotive enthusiasts across the country. This year’s event will be held on March 8, 2020 – a fitting date, since it’s also International Women’s Day. The FMSCI-approved rally promotes awareness of road safety. The WIAA trains and educates women about various precautions they need to take while driving.
As has been the case in previous years, the sixth edition of the rally will see participants drive from Mumbai to Aamby Valley City. The event will be flagged off from the NCPA, Nariman Point at 7am. Participants will then drive past a number of landmarks across the city en route to Aamby Valley City near Lonavala. The event itself will be a Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) based rally – a format that is often followed when the route includes public roads. The format itself puts less focus on outright speed and instead, requires participants to strategically complete each leg of the drive at a specified average speed.
So far, the WIAA has already received over 100 entries; and those interested in participating can head here to register. The last date for submission of entries is Wednesday, March 4, 2020.
Last year, the event witnessed one of its biggest turnouts with over 600 women and 130 cars, and was won by experienced rallyist Deepa Damodaran, along with her navigator Priyanka Videsh.
