TVS Motor Company has announced the acquisition of Engines Engineering S.p.A., an Italian automotive design and engineering firm, to establish its Global Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Design and Engineering in Bologna, Italy. This acquisition is part of TVS’ long-term vision to deliver premium, future-ready mobility solutions across international markets.

  1. Engines Engineering specialises in advanced prototyping and brings MotoGP expertise
  2. CoE will enhance TVS’ premium product pipeline and Norton’s capabilities

TVS Global Centre of Excellence capabilities

Offers advanced prototyping and racing expertise integration

Engines Engineering S.p.A. specialises in prototyping and validating high-performance motorcycles. Their expertise has extended to developing race-spec motorcycles, with their most notable accomplishments being in the 125cc MotoGP class, including involvement in the development of the Mahindra MGP30 Moto3 bikes. The company was also involved in the engineering and design work behind the resurrection of the Suzuki Katana in 2018.

TVS says the CoE will be designed as a concept-to-product innovation hub that will seamlessly integrate Engines Engineering's expertise with TVS Motor's R&D capabilities. The centre will focus on digital simulation, rapid prototyping and modular platform development. It will also accelerate the adoption of AI-driven design tools, advanced material applications and digital integration.

Most notably, the CoE will add new capabilities to Norton Motorcycles, now owned by TVS. This comes as Norton prepares for its revival with four new motorcycles planned for the near future, starting with a flagship 1,200cc superbike set to debut at EICMA 2025.

Commenting on the development, Sudarshan Venu, chairman, TVS Motor Company, said, “The establishment of the new Italian Global Centre of Excellence marks another milestone in strengthening our capabilities and accelerating our journey to reimagine mobility. By combining the creativity and racing expertise of Engines Engineering with our engineering and design strengths, we are expanding our ability to deliver premium, connected, and electric vehicles that set new global benchmarks.”

The expanded engineering depth will enable TVS to reduce product development cycles and expand its premium portfolio. Their learnings and technological developments may even trickle down to some of the more mass-market yet impressively equipped models like the Apache RTR 310.
