Nissan India MD Jerome Saigot resigns

Jerome Saigot, Managing Director of Nissan India and Datsun India, has resigned from his position. He will be leaving Nissan at the end of the month.

Saigot has been with Nissan since 2010, and he came to India in 2015 following a successful stint in Russia that saw him drive Datsun’s business in the market. He joined Nissan India as Vice President in 2015 and was promoted to MD, Nissan India, and Datsun India last year. Nissan has not announced any replacement for the moment.

Saigot’s resignation is the third high-level exit from Nissan India’s top management in the past year and it comes at a time when Nissan is struggling in the market. Datsun has helped bring in some volumes but the overall sales performance is far from targets.

Nissan will bring the Leaf EV to India this year, but the big, new launch from the Japanese carmaker will be that of the Kicks SUV in January 2018.
