Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe expert review
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe blends the sleek, sloping roofline of the coupe body style with aggressive AMG detailing. The low-set grille, large air intakes, flared arches and quad exhaust tips give it a purposeful stance that clearly differentiates it from the standard GLC. Despite its sporty intent, the overall design remains elegant rather than excessive, maintaining Mercedes’ premium appeal.
Engineering changes over the regular GLC are extensive. AMG has stiffened the body structure, retuned the suspension and recalibrated steering to deliver sharper responses. The focus is on creating a car that feels engaging on the road while remaining usable every day.

Inside, the cabin carries familiar GLC architecture but with AMG-specific enhancements. Sports seats with pronounced bolstering, flat-bottom steering wheel and AMG graphics reinforce the performance theme. Material quality is high, with leather, metal trims and contrast stitching creating a suitably premium environment.
Front seat comfort is excellent, offering strong lateral support without being uncomfortable on longer drives. Rear seat space is adequate rather than generous, with the sloping coupe roof slightly limiting headroom. Boot space is also reduced compared to the regular GLC, but remains usable for everyday needs.

The GLC 43 Coupe uses a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. In this application, the engine produces 421hp and 500Nm of torque, making it one of the most powerful four-cylinder engines in the segment.
Power is sent through a 9-speed AMG automatic gearbox to all four wheels via AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The result is strong, immediate acceleration, with the mild-hybrid system filling in torque gaps and sharpening throttle response.
Despite the high output, refinement is impressive. The engine remains smooth at cruising speeds and only becomes vocal when pushed hard. The exhaust note is sporty but restrained, avoiding the artificial drama seen in some rivals. Gearshifts are quick and decisive in Sport modes, while remaining smooth in Comfort.

Fuel efficiency is not a primary focus for the GLC 43 Coupe. The high-output petrol engine and performance-oriented drivetrain mean consumption is on the higher side, especially when driven enthusiastically. That said, the mild-hybrid system helps with stop-start efficiency and low-speed smoothness, making everyday driving less taxing than expected for a performance SUV.

Ride quality strikes a careful balance. While firmer than the standard GLC, the suspension still absorbs broken surfaces well enough for Indian road conditions. At speed, the car feels planted and composed, with excellent body control through corners.
Steering is quick and precise, giving the GLC 43 Coupe a genuinely engaging feel on winding roads. Grip levels are high, and the all-wheel-drive system provides strong traction when accelerating out of corners. It feels less like a traditional SUV and more like a tall sports sedan in the way it responds.
8
The feature list is comprehensive, with large digital displays, AMG-specific performance menus, premium audio and advanced connectivity. Safety equipment includes multiple airbags, stability and traction control, driver-assistance systems and parking aids, ensuring the car remains manageable despite its performance potential.
9
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe is expensive, but it offers a rare blend of sports-car performance, everyday usability and premium build quality. Its standout four-cylinder engine delivers serious pace without sacrificing refinement, making it more usable than full-fat AMG models.
For buyers who want an SUV-coupe that genuinely feels fast and engaging on real roads, the GLC 43 Coupe succeeds in delivering performance without excessive compromise.
