The Maserati Ghibli has serious star appeal. Its purposeful stance and slick styling sure make it looks the business. The Ghibli’s cabin, however, has its strengths and weaknesses. Sure, the layout of the dashboard is classy and there’s lots of scope for personalisation too, but quality is not quite in keeping with the Ghibli’s price and there are some ergonomic issues as well. Space at the back is fine but the rear seat itself is contoured for two occupants.
The Maserati Ghibli Diesel’s 275hp, 3.0-litre V6 engine is strong and even sounds nice but doesn’t quite excite. Handling is also so-so for something with the trident badge on the grille. The Maserati Ghibli is not the best choice as everyday transport either. The steering is heavy, the ride is harsh and ground clearance is woefully inadequate.
