Skoda has added a 4x2 variant of its soft-roader, the Yeti.

This new 2WD variant features a de-tuned version of the 140bhp, 2-litre common-rail diesel engine. Peak power is significantly down to 108bhp and the car now weighs a whole 98kg less than its 4x4 counterpart and comes with a 5-speed gearbox now in place of the 4x4’s 6-speed unit.

The Yeti 2WD will be available in two variants, namely Active and the better-specced Ambience that gets ESP and rear parking sensors.

Prices start at Rs 13.2 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra) and go up to Rs 14.05 lakh. In comparison, the base Yeti 4x4 costs Rs 15.5 lakh.
