Volvo is regarded as a byword for safety and has ruled the roost at the Euro NCAP in the recent years. Their safety assistance technology has always managed to impress and show results. An example of that was seen at the recent crash test of the new XC90. The crash testers at Euro NCAP witnessed the XC90’s emergency braking system which is capable of bringing a car to a halt before the collision occurs, thus getting the car the most points.
The XC90 is also the first car to score a full 100% in the AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking) in city and interurban. The XC90 also features pedestrian protection technology, although it is not a criterion for judgement at the Euro NCAP yet, it showcases the Swedish manufacturers urge to thrive in safety technology.
Euro NCAP quoted, "Good occupant protection is still the backbone of a top rating in Euro NCAP, but the availability and performance of avoidance and driver support systems, which will ultimately pave the way for highly automated vehicles, is becoming increasingly important."
Volvo XC90 gets full marks at Euro-NCAP
