Volvo India today announced that golfer Jeev Milkha Singh will be its brand ambassador in India.
The golfer will get an XC90 as a part of his association with Volvo. He said “I am excited to be a part of the Volvo family and today I stand proud to be representing Volvo cars as its brand ambassador.” At the event, Tomas Ernberg, managing director, Volvo Auto India, also announced that the company will be opening dealerships across the country with new ones coming up in Bangalore and Ahmedabad in the coming months. Gurgaon is on the company’s radar too and will get a dealership followed by Kolkata.
The company also announced a 114 percent growth in terms of sales in the last quarter finishing March, 2013, with sales of 212 units. Ernberg also stated that Volvo remains unaffected with the hike in duties for imported cars as these are applicable to those with petrol engines over 3000cc and diesel engines above 2500cc. He said that Volvo will continue to focus on CBUs, with the V40 CrossCountry joining the line-up with a launch due in June this year.It will be priced to rival the likes of BMW X1 and Audi Q3.
